καὶ γάρ κ' εἰς ἐνιαυτὸν ἐγὼ παρὰ σοί γ' ἀνεχοίμην

Homer, ῞Ομηρος, is the name the ancient Greeks assigned to the authorship of the Iliad, the Odyssey and many other works as well. I will not recount the arguments of the Homeric question here. As a matter of convenience, I will simply call the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey "Homer."
